Maritzburg United fell short on Saturday as they went down 2 – 1 to League leaders Bidvest Wits. The defending Knockout Champions Bidvest Wits moved another step closer to retaining the Telkom Cup. A 2 – 1 away win against Maritzburg United.
Wits now progress to the semi finals where they could face either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs in the semi final round.
Amazulu FC vs Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates put in a solid performance when they traveled to KZN to Face Amazulu FC. Pirates made hard work of the win, leaving it till extra time to claim their spot in the Semi final.
Finishing 3 – 1 after extra time.
Baroka FC vs Mamelodi Sundowns
The Big upset in the Telkom Knockout this weekend came care of second from bottom of the league table Baroka FC.
Baroka managed a huge upset over PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. A goal in each half securing the 2 – 0 win and causing a major upset.
Sundowns, while only having lost once this season find themselves out of the Telkom Knockout and hovering just above mid table in the league.
No doubt the supporters will expect a quick turn around and a move back into the top half of the league table.
Its not all doom and gloom however as the team from Mamelodi have 4 games in hand over top of the table Orlando Pirates. Sundowns will need to win at least 3 of the 4 games to move above Pirates later on in the season.
